Dog Kennels

Many dog owners travel frequently; and not always to pet friendly areas. If you plan on taking a safari into Africa, your puppy would be far better off if you looked at one of your local dog kennels and booked rover a stay there, rather than bringing him along. Of course, doing some research will go a long way towards ensuring a happy vacation for your pet.

It’s important to look at several dog kennels because some of the things that can make a kennel bad are only apparent when you compare that kennel to a good one. For instance, every kennel is going to smell like it’s got hundreds of dogs in it, that’s just the way kennels are. However a bad kennel will smell like hundreds of dogs just pooped, while a good one will smell like the dogs themselves.

Other things to look for when you’re browsing dog kennels are the ratio of staff to dogs, and the grounds. A kennel with 1 staffer for 100 dogs is going to give your dog very little interaction while you’re gone, which isn’t good, especially for a dog that gets attention at home. Also, if the kennel grounds don’t have an enclosed space that dogs are taken to for exercise, it’s a good bet that your dog will spend the entire time you’re gone in a cage. Getting a good kennel means the difference between a happy vacation for your dog, and a miserable one.
